TICKET GIVEAWAY:
The 1st (2) persons to comment on this page with their favorite song by The Shondes will win a pair of tickets to see The Shondes perform with Excuses For Skipping, The Bruises and Ex-Boyfriends in San Francisco at Café du Nord on Thursday, May 6th 2010.

To quote that guy from the 70’s … “time keeps on slippin’ slippin’ / into the future”.  That’s just what’s happening here, as April turns to May, the showers start trading themselves in for flowers and spring is in full effect, as with the allergies she brings along with her.  This week, we are pleased to bring you a handful of talented artists from around the globe, including several submissions from Sweden, The UK, Netherlands, Denmark and from coast-to-stateside-coast.

If you're on Twitter, you probably are already hip to the use of hash tags (#) to identify topics and trends ... and you probably see the same ones every Monday, “#MusicMonday", "#musicmonday" and "#MM".  These hash tags facilitate worldwide recommendations/promos/plugs/playlists/reviews/concerts/gear and MUCH more throughout Twitter, and now the entire web!

Here at WomensRadio, we use these networks to give an added boost to the world's finest Independent Female (and Male) Musicians submitting to our studios.  Here are a couple of submissions we picked up early Monday morning:

#1: Marianne Dissard Mexican / Glam / Chinese pop from Tucson, AZ

#2: Anna Madorsky Alternative / Pop / Rock from Los Angeles, CA

#3: Easily Embarrassed Ambient / Psychedelic / Dub from Holland, Netherlands

Week In Review: While preparing our next major playlist update (over 225 hand-selected gems from the WomensRadio vaults) and the 22nd episode of the WRMusicReview Podcast, we were happy to share with you the Agorafabulous comedy of Sara Benincasa in our intimate (and hilarious) interview (sadly *not* in a bathtub) as well as an album review of the highly anticipated 2010 release, Ghosts, by London, UK folk/blues/country darlings, Smoke Fairies.

We’d like to extend a very happy birthday to the late, great American country music singer-songwriter, and one of country music’s best known artists and biggest-selling female vocalists, Tammy Wynette (born Virginia Wynette Pugh) (May 5, 1942 – April 6, 1998).

We were very lucky to catch London’s Smoke Fairies @ SXSW 2010, and were quite surprised to find this tour video on their YouTube page…we thought you’d like it, so it is included here:
